Before & After: A Studio Makeover in Endoume
In the heart of Endoume, Marseille, we recently had the opportunity to renovate a compact studio apartment. Our goal was to transform this dated space into a functional and appealing AirBnB rental. Here's a look at how we reimagined the layout to maximize space, light, and comfort.
Living Area
Before: A mezzanine dominated the space, blocking natural light and making the room feel cramped.
After: Removing the mezzanine opened up the area, allowing light to flood in. We added storage along the wall, including a hidden fridge and utility closet.
Sleeping Corner
Before: The original kitchen took up too much valuable space in the studio.
After: We converted the former kitchen into a cozy sleeping nook, creating a separate bedroom.
Dining Area
Before: An underutilized corner lacked purpose.
After: A tiled accent wall now frames a built-in bench and shelves, creating a charming breakfast nook.
Work Space
Before: Unused area with potential.
After: We added a desk by the window, offering a comfortable spot for working with a sea view.
New Kitchen
Before: An outdated kitchen took up too much space.
After: A compact, efficient kitchen now fits neatly into the open plan living area.
Open Plan
Before: The mezzanine divided the space awkwardly.
After: An open layout now connects the entryway, living area, and new kitchen seamlessly.
Separate Toilet
Before: A storage closet near the bathroom.
After: We converted this into a separate toilet for added privacy and comfort.
Bathroom
Before: A cramped all-in-one bathroom.
After: With the toilet separate, we created a more spacious shower and sink area.
This Endoume Studio renovation showcases how thoughtful space planning can transform a small apartment. By reimagining the layout and prioritizing light and functionality, we've created a space that we hope will serve as a comfortable base for visitors exploring Marseille.
